Week 4 Forum

TOPIC 1: PUTTING THE TOOLBOX TO WORK -- Now that you've learned what's in Stephen King's "Toolbox,” let's put it to work. Looking at your Review and your revised first Feature Story, cite TWO different instances where you've used one of King's tools.

In my most recent story about the fashion industry there were several instances where I wanted to add in a poofy word, but I took King’s advice about trying to only use the first word that comes to mind.

When I said “Who’s to blame? The media, right?” I wanted to add in something like “for this catastrophe,” but I really felt like I could keep it clean without the poof.

In that same story I really worked on not using the passive tense. Instead of saying “The law had been passes in April,” I said “In April France passed a law…”

TOPIC 2: PROFILE GAME PLAN -- Now let's turn your attention to your next assignment, the Profile. Settle on one of your subjects and fill in the blanks:
 • Name of Profile subject Nick Leonard
 • Where you can observe him/her in action: In Choir
 • Three sources you will use: James Reddan, Leland Holden, and Makayla Ricks
• Five questions you will ask
1. How long have you been into music?
2. What is the meaning of your song choice to you?
3. What do you do outside of school?
4. Have you always been good in front of a crowd?
5. Do you think Nick is doing a good job?
• Nut graf - What's your subject's "claim to fame"? Nick is the chior student conductor this term.
• Three links
